SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
PATTERN:
Row 1: Increase in 1st stitch, knit to the end of row
BEGIN PONCHO:
Repeat Rows 1, 2 and 3 once more. Then BIND OFF LOOSELY (I use size 19
needle to bind off with to get the necessary "give").
Make second triangle the same as this one for the back.
Across the top of the triangles it will measure approximately 42"
Lay one triangle on top of the other, lining up all edges. Across the top,
stitch both pieces together 15" from each OUTSIDE EDGE toward the center,
leaving a 12" center opening for neck hole.
Add Fringe evenly around all outside edges, using three 12" strands of yarn in each place.
Designed and knit by Pam Davis - 2004
OPAL FALL PONCHO
(One Size Fits Most)
Three 100 gm skeins Opal Sock Yarn
Sample uses 3 skeins Opal Hand Paint 2nd Edition #17
1 Pair of Size 15 straight knitting needles
In EVERY ROW, increase in the first stitch only by knitting in the front of
the stitch, then before taking the stitch off of the left needle, knit through
the back of the same stitch (making 2 stitches)
KNIT 2 PIECES TOTAL: ONE FOR FRONT, ONE FOR BACK.
Poncho is worked with TWO STRANDS yarn held together throughout.
Row 2: Increase in 1st stitch, knit to the end of row
Row 3: Increase in 1st stitch, knit to the end of row
Row 4: Increase in 1st stitch ++YO, K1; repeat from ++ to last stitch, end knit 1
Row 5: Increase in 1st stitch; knit across dropping all of the YO’s from the previous row. End knit 2
With two strands held together, Cast on 3 stitches.
Knit in pattern above (Rows 1-5) 19 times total
NOTE:(To make it even, I put fringe in each "knit" stripe edge, and fringe in
each "yarn over striped edge) which places the fringe approximately 1" apart.
